How to use this site

New here? Here's everything you need to know to get the most out of Escape San Diego.

Understanding the posts

Each post covers a single deal. Here's what the key terms mean:

Round-trip means the price shown is for a complete round-trip ticket — out and back. Not one-way.

Nonstop means no connections. You fly directly from San Diego to the destination. This is the best kind of deal and always worth flagging.

With connection means the itinerary has one stop. Usually still a great price — just adds time to the journey.

Reversible means you can also book the same deal departing from the destination and returning to San Diego. Useful if you're already traveling and want to come home cheap.

Blackout dates means the deal doesn't apply to certain high-demand periods — usually Thanksgiving week, Christmas, spring break, or major holidays. These are noted in every post when relevant.

Airport codes

SAN — San Diego International Airport. The main airport, located in Little Italy/Midway. This is the departure airport for every deal on this site unless otherwise noted.

TIJ — Tijuana International Airport, across the border. Occasionally worth checking for budget carrier fares to Mexico — Volaris and VivaAerobus operate from here. The Cross Border Xpress connector makes it easy from San Diego.

How to book

Every post links directly to the fare on Google Flights or the airline's own site. A few tips:

Use an incognito/private browser window when searching. Some airlines and booking tools show higher prices after repeated searches.

Book directly with the airline when possible. Third-party booking sites add fees and make changes harder.

Be flexible on departure day if you can. Tuesday and Wednesday departures are consistently cheaper from SAN than Friday or Sunday.
